INCIDENT: Robbery, Kidnapping, Carjacking, Felon in Possession of a Firearm

LOCATION: 14000 block of Amargosa Road, Victorville

SUSPECT(S): David Robert Soto, 33-year old Adelanto transient

VICTIM(S): Confidential, Adult Male


SUMMARY: On September 23, 2018, Deputy R. Polar, from the Victorville Police Department, responded to a robbery in the 14000 block of Amargosa Road.

The suspect, David Robert Soto, a convicted felon, approached the victim and robbed him at gunpoint. Once he had the victim’s personal property he got into the victim’s car and ordered him to drive to his bank where he would be made to take money from his account and give it to the suspect. The suspect noticed a citizen witnessing what was occurring and fled from the car on foot.

Through information obtained by Polar, Deputy M. Cote and Deputy M. Carabajal located the suspect near Palmdale Road and Borego Road, where he was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. The victim’s belongings and the handgun used in the crime were recovered.

Soto was booked at High Desert Detention Center for robbery, kidnapping, carjacking, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on September 25, 2018.
