INCIDENT: PC 245 – Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: Jack in the Box, 34500 block of Yucaipa Blvd, Yucaipa
SUSPECTS: Eric Sicard, age 39 a transient of Yucaipa
VICTIMS: Adult female, age 32 a resident of Yucaipa
Adult male, age 32 a resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, June 3rd, at approximately 9:50 pm, the female victim arrived for her shift at Jack in the Box accompanied by her boyfriend, the adult male victim. As they exited their vehicle the suspect, later identified as Eric Sicard, approached them and began attacking the male victim. The suspect was not known to either one of the victims.
The female retrieved a baseball bat from her vehicle and attempted to defend her boyfriend but, Eric Sicard knocked her to the ground and took the bat. Sicard struck the female in the legs with the bat. The male victim attempted to protect his girlfriend and was, in turn, struck multiple times in the arms with the bat.
A bystander intervened and tackled the suspect. As the bystander struggled with Sicard, another unknown male attacked the bystander, punching him numerous times. Sicard fled on foot, as did the second assailant, who was also described as a male, possible transient, who frequents the area.
With the assistance of a sheriff’s helicopter, Sicard was located in the loading dock area of Focus Vision, also in the 34500 block of Yucaipa Blvd. Sicard was taken into custody without further incident. Both of Sicard’s victims sustained cuts and bruises; neither victim was seriously injured. The bystander did not desire prosecution for his assault and the suspect who assaulted him fled and has not been located.
Sicard was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with bail set a $50,000.
