INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: 11000 block of Ramona St, Yucaipa
SUSPECT: David Frank Genovese, age 50 of Yucaipa
VICTIM: Confidential
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, September 16th, at approximately 11:27 am, Yucaipa Police Department deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 11000 block of Ramona Street in Yucaipa. As deputies responded, both parties left the location in separate vehicles. Shortly thereafter, the victim called 911 to report the suspect, David Genovese, was following her. Genovese used his vehicle to strike the victim’s vehicle multiple times, and attempted to force the victim’s vehicle into traffic. The victim eluded the suspect and was located by deputies.
The victim told deputies she and the suspect have a residence in the 11000 block of Golden Gate they also owned. Deputies responded to that residence and located Genovese sitting in his vehicle in front of the home. As deputies arrived, Genovese exited his vehicle and ran inside. Multiple attempts were made to contact Genovese inside his residence. Genovese was uncooperative and refused to exit the residence. At one point, Genovese came out the back door of the home and a foot chase between Genovese and a deputy took place. Genovese made it back into the home and concealed himself in a bedroom. Deputies attempted to communicate with Genovese for over one hour before he finally came out of the room and was taken into custody without incident. A replica “BB” gun was located in the room Genovese was hiding in.
No one was injured during this incident.
Genovese was arrested, transported and booked for assault with a deadly weapon and additional charges may be sought through the District Attorney’s Office.
