SafeTALK – Lake Arrowhead

Promotional flyer for a free suicide alert helper training event called "safeTALK," hosted by San Bernardino County Behavioral Health. The event takes place on Monday, December 1, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lake Arrowhead Fire Station, 301 S. State HWY 173. The flyer encourages participants to become safeTALK-trained helpers with steps: TELL, ASK, LISTEN, KEEP SAFE. SafeTALK
In this free three-hour training, participants will learn how to to recognize and support a person with thoughts of suicide. Participants will become a: “safeTALK-trained suicide alert helper.” Over the course of training, participants will learn to:

  • Notice and respond to situations where suicide thoughts might be present
  • Recognize that invitations for help are often overlooked
  • Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss, and avoid suicide
  • Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, and Keep Safe
  • Know community resources

Event Description: Institute for Public Strategies (IPS) East Valley in collaboration with the Yucaipa Sheriff's Department, The City of Yucaipa, Drug Enforcement Administration, and C&C Center for Healing is hosting a safe disposal site for unwanted or unused prescriptions. The site will host drop boxes where medications can be anonymously forfeited and safely disposed of by professionals. Come by to drop off unused expired or unwanted medications. Free Naloxone and Fentanyl Test Strips will also be distributed.
